Hemorrhoids, what are they really?
Usually, most people think of hemorrhoids as a disease, something, like:
- Oh, you have Hemorrhoids?
- Me? I, don’t!
Wrong. We all them. All human beings have hemorrhoids; they are a part of the human body as legs, arms, hair, etc. They are exactly clumps of tissue in the anal area, comprised by blood vessels, veins and supporting tissues.
When distension of hemorrhoids occurs, there is produced swelling and inflammation that causes a big pain, what we know as hemorrhoids disease.
Hemorrhoids count with a rich supply of arterial red blood they get from the arteries that transport blood to the anal canal. This blood is drained through the anal veins in two ways:
- Up into the rectum
- Down into the surrounding skin of the anus
Hemorrhoids’ bleeding can be eventually severe, but they are not dangerous of life-threatening.
Why are they caused?
The only certain cause of hemorrhoids is pregnancy.
Other causes that are also considered are:
- Constipation: Straining produced for stool expulsion
- Hard stools that demand effort to be expelled
- Low intake of fiber: Related to constipation
- Sitting down long time in the toilet
- Pelvic tumours: Press the veins that drain the anal canal.
- Age: Deterioration of the supporting tissue of the hemorrhoids
Nothing to be ashamed of…
Again, we want to make clear this: WE ALL THEM, Hemorrhoids are the most common thing in the world because they are part of the human body.
They produce a disease when they get abnormally stretched, but in fact many people have experienced temporary hemorrhoids at least once. Our organism can play tricks on us sometimes…
Both men and women can suffer from it. Pregnant women constitute a group of high risk.
It is not an order’s people disease only. Certainly, most part of hemorrhoids sufferers are above 50, but prevention from early age can avoid later undesired consequences.
